In a political environment shaped by hyper-partisanship and ideological rigidity, The Constitution Project has led the effort and been uniquely successful in building bipartisan consensus among diverse stakeholders. Our Clearinghouse of New Voices expands on that success. It began as a database of individuals who support criminal justice reforms, but who have traditionally been seen as “unlikely allies”—and thus can be particularly persuasive and influential. These unlikely allies include former judges, prosecutors, policymakers, law enforcement and corrections officers, and conservative opinion leaders.
Now, because of the success we have had with this approach in the criminal justice arena, we are developing “new voices” on other constitutional issues as well. For more information about the Clearinghouse, please contact Sarah Turberville, firstname.lastname@example.org.
