2008 Constitutional Commentary Award

On September 17, 2008, The Constitution Project presented its 2008 Constitutional Commentary Award to Linda Greenhouse.  The award is given annually to the author of an outstanding written work that has improved the quality of public discourse through insightful, articulate analysis of a constitutional question.  Ms. Greenhouse covered the United States Supreme Court for The New York Times, where she earned the Pulitzer Prize for Journalism in 1998, from 1978-2008.

“It was torture,” TCP's independent, bipartisan, blue-ribbon Task Force on Detainee Treatment concluded in a report released April 16, 2013. The group looked at the federal government's policies and actions related to the detention and treatment of suspected terrorists captured in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere and held in U.S. custody during the Clinton, Bush and Obama administrations.
