On December 9, in a letter organized by The Constitution Project, over one hundred former prosecutors and judges wrote Senators Durbin and Lee in support of the Smarter Sentencing Act (S.1410/H.R. 3382). The bill provides much-needed reform to federal drug sentencing polices by giving federal judges more discretion in sentencing those convicted of non-violent offenses.
